3rd Annual Housing Expo

"Cultivating the Dream"

In an effort to celebrate National Home Ownership Month, the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority is gearing up to host the 2013 Housing Expo. Now in its 3rd year, the Expo promises to provide the enlightening experience that existing and potential home owners have come to expect. This year’s theme is “Cultivating the Dream”. The Expo will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Sunshine Mall Lower Level on St. Croix and on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the UVI Sports and Fitness Arena on St. Thomas. It will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Housing Expo will make information available to the general public on various aspects of acquiring and maintaining a home. Exhibitors will include contractors, construction product vendors, real estate agents, insurance companies, landscaping contractors, solar and green product vendors and utility providers. These exhibitors will be on site to provide information and answer questions about becoming a homeowner and maintaining an excellent home. Our goal is to prepare home owners and future home owners with the skills to acquire and maintain their home during tough economic times.

The Expo will provide informational sessions throughout the event on “The ABC’s of Credit Reporting by VIHFA”, “Are you ready to Purchase?” and “Is it time to Refinance?” CLICK HERE FOR A FULL SCHEDULE.

Do-It-Yourself demonstrations will also be conducted so attendees will learn how to perform basic home maintenance themselves. As an added feature, the Authority has partnered with Home Depot and the Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (DOA) to help inspire attendees to not only begin planting the seeds for home ownership but also for the cultivation of food in preparation for a season of harvest. Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to gain knowledge on groundwork, planting, development, growth and yield by participating in box garden workshops with DOA and a “Kids Workshop” with Home Depot. Home Depot will also be giving demonstrations on how to install a dimmer switch, lay tiles effectively and paint for perfection. The VI Fire Services will provide information on fire prevention in your home.

Come out and join us for the “2013 Housing Expo” and begin “Cultivating the Dream.”
