2010 Affordable Housing Summit
 The
second Housing Summit in the history of the Virgin Islands Housing
Finance Authority (VIHFA) was held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010
at the Carambola Beach Resort on St. Croix. These sessions armed attendees
with the necessary tools for "Laying the Foundation for the Future
of Affordable Housing."
Sessions discussions focused on "Financing and Funding Resources,
Green Building, Legislative Impact, Leveraging Resources, Barriers
to Affordable Housing, and Housing Continuum."
 The
panelists possessing knowledge and expertise in the mentioned areas
represented the federal/local government, and private non-profit/for
profit organizations. This diversity was also reflective among its
200 plus attendees, which allowed for valued discussions and perspectives
that led to innovative ideas.
 The
Summit keynote speaker, Milroy Alexander, a former Executive Director
and Chief Executive Officer of Colorado Housing and Finance Authority
(CHFA) was also an asset to the Summit. Sharing of his vision and
accomplishments in his capacity at CHFA reinforced VIHFA's efforts
in providing quality resources to its customers. The Summit received
rave reviewed; hence, it is evident that the Authority is on the pathway
to attaining its goals. |
